(A) 1880 U. S. Census, 2nd Dist. Morgan Co., TN, lists Mahala Barger, age 30, the divorced widow of John Barger, together with Nancy Barger, age 9, Benjamin Barger, age 3, all enumerated at th household of Thomas and Elander Stoneciper. There is no mention of Henry C. Barger in that home at that time. He would have been seven years old in 1880. It may be that Nancy, and not Henry C., was the first born, which conflicts with the information contained in Source (2), below:

(B) This family is descended from Pinte Barger of Morgan County, TN.

(C) It has been reported that John Calvin Barger was also known as John Stapely Barger, and that he was married twice and had sons as noted below. The source of this information is not documented, and its accuracy has not been determined. The following information is shown for information only:
