Notes:

(A) A. L. Barger reported that Gilbert Hare Bargar, who was orphaned at the age of two, following the death of his father in the wreck of the West Wind steamboat on the Ohio River in 1842. His early education was in country schools near Cadiz, Ohio, after which he attended West Bradford Academy and the Ohio Law College in Cleveland, Ohio, from which he graduated on 28 Jun 1861.
(B) Gilbert Hare Bargar served as a First Lieutenant and later as a Captain of Infantry in the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War.
(C) Gilbert Hare Bargar was a member of the Ohio General Assembly, representing Coshocton County, for two terms.
(D) In 1865, he was appointed U.S. Pension Agent for Ohio.
(E) From 1893 to 1897, he was Director of Law for the City of Columbus, Ohio.
(F) Minnie A. Bargar and her husband, F. A. Sells, resided in Columbus, Ohio. The had a daughter, Marguerite Sells.
(G) Frances Arabella Bargar was the Librarian of the Carnegie Library of Columbus, Ohio.
(H) Lucia Barger married William Little of Wilmette, Lake County, Illinois. They had three daughters, Lucia, Jane and Bettie Little, all of Wilmette, Illinois.
(I) The spelling of the family name appears to have evolved from "Barger" to "Bargar" during this generation.
(J) This family is descended from the Putnam Valley Barger family of New York.
