(A) A. L. Barger wrote that George Elias Barger had studied at Westfield Academy and Hamilton College, and had become a banker. He was associated with the 1st National Bank of Westfield, NY in 1865; the 1st National Bank of Warren, PA in 1867; the 1st National Bank of Omaha, NE in 1869; and was treasurer and manager of the Erie Dime Savings and Loan Company of Erie, PA from 1873 to 1876, after which he went into the insurance business.
(B) This family is descended from the Putnam Valley Barger family of New York.
