(A) In the 1860 Lafayette Co., MS census, we see a Sarah, age 47,
born in NC - Her relationship to the family is unclear. Since
Alfred's wife, Annie, is not shown in that or any subsequent
census record, it is possible that she had died and that Sarah
was a second wife, or a relative who may have resided with the
family for a while. We see nothing further of that Sarah.
(B) Annie Laurie is listed as "Annis" in the 1850 Noxubee Co., MS
census records. (It is not known if Laurie is a middle name or her
(C) Mary is listed in the 1880 census as Mary Gooch, and also listed
is a Viola Gooch, age 12, born in MS, grandaughter of Alfred Barger.
(D) Martha is listed in the 1880 census as Martha Kimes, and also
listed is another Martha Kimes, age 20, born in MS, a grandaughter
of Alfred Barger.
(E) James and his wife, Rebecca, are listed as son and daughter-in-law
in the household of Alfred Barger in 1870. Also listed is Stanley
Barger, age 1, born in AR, grandson of Alfred Barger, and apparently
the son of James and Rebecca.
(F) Victoria Barger is listed in the household of Alfred Barger in 1850, but not in subsequent census records.
(G) We do note a marriage on 1 May 1879 in Dunklin Co., MO, of a
"Vica" Barger to James Rogers. It was thought that perhaps the name firsst name of Victoria Barger had been abreviated
in the marriage record, but we have since identified Vica Barger, a descendant of the
Putnam Valley, NY Barger family, and not this Victoria Barger.
