Notes:

(A) See Family Group Sheet No. 10609 for the first marriage of James Barger, to Sarah "Sally" Shelman, older sister of Elizabeth Shelman. They were both daughters of Martin Shelman and Elizabeth Barger.

(B) George Franling (or Franklin) Barger died in 1837 en route to Harrison County, Missouri.

(C) Lewis Houton Barger was the twin brother of Alexander Haskell Barger. Lewis served in the Missouri Militia during the Civil War. He was wounded in action and died at a government hospital in St. Joseph, MO.

(D) James Barger acquired land in New Hampton, Harrison Co., MO, and moved there from Breckinridge Co., KY in 1837.

(E) Georgia Ann Barger is said to have been named for her brother, George, who died shortly before her birth when the family was moving to Missouri.

(F) This family is descended from the Peter Berger family of Pennsylvania and Kentucky.
