(A) The following is a transcript (with spelling & punctuation intact), of an agreement entered into by heirs of Abraham Barger following his death:

"A title of a settelment made and enterd into this first day of September 1848, betwene the under signers to wit Jesse Barger Joseph Hignight and Nancy his wife and Nelson Gay and Hannah his wife and Andrew Spurlock and Caty his wife and Howel Brewer and Bitsy his wife heirs of Abraham Barger Deceast all of lawful age do hearby agree to divide the estate of sd Barger deceast as folloith it being his will verbly made to wit that Bitsy Brewer daughter of sd Barger deceast and her heirs have all the land belonging to sd Barger on the north side of the middel fork below a certain hollow known by the name of the Milll Hollow but to be subject to the controle of Polly Barger widow of Abraham Barger deceast during her natural life and Howel Brewer binds himself to pay the debts of sd Barger deceast which is supposed to be about forty dollars and that Nancy Hignight daughter of Abraham Barger and her body heirs have all the land on the south side of the middel fork that A. Barger owned from a conditional line on Leatherwood neck made by A. Barger and Jesse Barger down to the river and up the river to a line sugartrees and beach at the mouth of a hollow thence with the various corner of ad hollow to the --- of point ----with the top of the point to the outline of a 2 hundred acre survey made in the name of A. Barger but to be subject to the control of Polly Barger widow of A. Barger deceast during her natural life. And that Hannah Gay daughter of A. Barger deceast have one sorrel 2 year old horse and one yearlin heffer. And that Caty Spurlock daughter of A. Barger deceast have one chesnut sorrel mare and fifteen dollars worth of property and now we the under signed for the true performance of the above do bind ourselves seperately and severally to each other in the sum of five hundred dollars each to be levied and collected our severally or seperately of our estates either personal or real in witness where of we have hear unto set our hand the day and year above writen.

I Jesse Combs clerk of the county court for the County afore said to certify that this agreement between the heirs of Abraham Barger deceased was this day produced to me in my office and was proved to be the act and deed of the said Jesse Barger Joseph Hignight & Nancy Hignight his wife Howel Brewer & Betsy Brewer his wife Nelson Gay & Hannah Gay his wife Andrew Spurlock & Caty Spurlock his wife by the oath of Justis Boling Robert Boling"

Note: The two daughters Hannah and Caty had each gotten land at an earlier time.

(B) Elizabeth Barger and Howell Prentiss Brewer had ten children:

1. Hanna Brewer, b. 20 Aug 1845 Clay Co., KY, d. 25 Mar 1913 Bera, KY, who married Robert Johnston, m. 15 Feb 1865.
2. George Brewer
3. Justice Brewer
4. Orville Harrison Brewer, b. 20 Oct 1863 Manchester, Clay Co., KY, who married Charity Howard Coldiron on 20 Dec 1881 in Laurel Creek, Clay Co., KY (They lived in TX for many years. Orville died 9 Feb 1941 in Coolidge, Pinal Co., AZ.

6. Rinda Brewer
7. Polly Brewer
8. Armilda Brewer
9. Robert Brewer
10. Jim Brewer

(C) This family is descended from the Abraham Barger family of eastern Kentucky.
